Submission to Authorities and Christ’s Example in Suffering

1 Peter 2:13-25

2
Chapter 2
13 Be subject to every human institution for the Lord, whether to a king as ruling over. 14 or to governors as those sent by him for the vindication of evildoers and praise of doers of good 15 [Verse 1Pet.2.19] For this is grace, if someone, because of conscience toward God, endures sorrows while suffering unjustly. 16 as free, and not having your freedom as a cover for wickedness, but as slaves of God. 17 Honor all, love the brotherhood, revere God, honor the king. 18 Household servants, submit in all fear to your masters, not only to the good and gentle ones but also to the crooked ones. 19 20 For what glory is there if, when you sin and are struck, you endure it? But if, when you do good and suffer, you endure, this is grace with God. 21 For you were called to this, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example so that you might follow in his footsteps. 22 who did not commit sin, nor was any deceit found in his mouth 23 When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when suffering, he did not threaten; but he kept handing himself over to the one who judges righteously. 24 who himself bore our sins in his body on the wood, that we, having died to sins, might live by righteousness; by whose stripe you were healed. 25 For you were like sheep wandering astray, but you have now turned to the shepherd and overseer of your souls.
